Leadership Development

A defining feature of leadership development at CICM is that it is driven by future needs, not just past experience. Over the last 20 years, much of what constitutes leadership education has not necessarily produced ethical or highly effective leaders. Much has been made of the "crisis of leadership" and a "deficit of leadership", both in terms of commerce and politics. In 2013 the World Economic Forum in Davos highlighted a lack of clear, dynamic leadership as a global problem, focusing on the loss of trust. Leadership is ultimately about ensuring organisational survival, but equally, resilience and growth, creating wealth for customers and shareholders alike.

At CICM leadership is at the core of everything we do. Our mission is to develop leaders fit for the challenges of the future. We wish to break free from "old world" thinking and the constraints of much traditional leadership teaching, which is becoming progressively ineffective in a knowledge-based economy. During the course, participants will be required to reflect on their own approach and what areas and capabilities they may have that they can develop further. Each participant is given private consultation time with key staff to explore new ideas and critically reflect upon their style, approach and achievement to-date.

We focus on the skills and capabilities that leaders need to gain in order to navigate environments replete with hyper global competition, ambiguity, complexity and technological disruption. Future organisational leaders are very likely to witness a diffusion of power and influence towards individual consumers and away from organisations. With this issue in mind, CICM has produced a course that focuses on the skills and capabilities that are most likely to be required of leaders in the near future.
